How not to monitor your blood sugar

Have you ever felt like just taking a vacation from your diabetes? I know I have. In fact, I have taken multiple days off from diabetes. This is not recommended. My blood sugar felt constantly high, and I could feel it. So What do I do? I blind bolus using my insulin pump, hoping that I took enough to bring me down from the mid-400’s. Dry mouth and thirst set it. I’ve got to pee. What a wonderful vacation from diabetes this is!! In short, I realized that doing a few little things like checking your blood sugar, counting carbs, and giving an accurate bolus of insulin, can go a long way towards the feeling of freedom. I’d rather be doing this now than having to be wheeled around in a wheelchair with an amputated foot…
